Marine Electric Systems was represented at the American Society of Naval Engineers Fleet Maintenance and Modernization Symposium, held September 22 to 24 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Johnny Villena, Vice President of Business Development for our parent company MES Technologies, attended on our behalf.

Fleet maintenance is where our work lives. We have supplied the Navy since 1942 with salinity and water quality monitoring equipment, temperature monitoring panels for carriers and submarines, and the electronics and power supplies that support them. When those systems reach the point where the original parts are no longer manufactured, we repair them, rebuild them, or reverse engineer replacements so the ship can remain in service.

The conversations that matter most at a symposium of this kind tend to involve components that have become difficult or impossible to source. An assembly fails, the original manufacturer is gone, the drawings are decades old, and the quantity required is too small to interest a large supplier. That situation is routine for us rather than exceptional.

If your team is dealing with obsolete components or hard to source shipboard equipment, we would welcome the opportunity to review it.
